This quote right here from you: "or maybe felt arrogant for believing in ourselves." Yes, I have struggled with that -- like, "am I bad, for putting myself out there, will people think i'm arrogant or too much?" GOD FORBID I UTTER A SOUND IN THE PUBLIC SPHERE -- with that said, right there with you sister, damn glad i make music too and we're both getting on stage and making an album right now so fuck YES to that shit.

But alas, i have had a similar experience. slightly different, but... when I saw "it" -- i think you know what i mean, the reflection of me within the ALL or whatever, doing the thing I'd been struggling to do for years -- lots bc of fear and stubbornness--- oh my god, i EXPLODED in tears. i was devastated. Today though I'm either really fucking glad im doin what i do, or really fucking terrified that im doing what i do, or both haha. xo

P.S. I performed at some open mics last week and one of them i was hella nervous for -- i thought of you and the video you'd posted (same one in this article) and it made me feel better bc i knew i was not alone in putting myself out there. <3

So beautifully written and so true. I get so many inspired ideas, which I often share verbally, when I see someone has made them, I’m greatful as I was busy doing something else. Or I will get inspired to make them my way. There’s a big old world out there, we don’t all need to be number one, we are the one.

Loved reading this. Elizabeth Gilbert discusses this phenomenon in her book “Big Magic”. Thoughts are like particles floating all around us. We don’t own them. We can absorb them and do something with them or let them dissolve back into the universe.

I will say—even though we don’t own them—we each have our own unique essence that we contribute to our interpretation of ideas. They may end up very similar to others. However, there will always be something unique about your interpretation. Don’t let the fear of not being “original” stop you.

Sure, do a little research and you will find it is not just in music, there is a little known fact that many inventions like the telephone, wireless communication, heavier than air flight and many others were claimed to be the first by people separated in many countries around the world. Then there are the stories of the monkeys on separate islands who all started doing the same new technique after it started on one island. There is an unconscious connection between people.

Those people who actually picked up on the idea and had the courage and motivation to do something about it and were first to bring it into reality are the ones who get the credit.

Ideas come from God, or from the human collective Shadow. Either way, they are common property. Throughout history, there have been numerous accounts of people receiving prophetic messages, and refusing to communicate those messages because of fear. And then, another prophet is selected who does have the courage to communicate the message. I have had this experience in my own life. Over 30 years ago, I was given the idea to paddle a kayak across the US. I did this, and no sooner had I accomplished the task, then others attempted the same journey.

So you're on to something, and as always I appreciate your viewpoint, as well as your excellent writing.

Over the decades, I've sometimes whined about my ideas not exactly being stolen as much as someone beating me to it. So, after reading this piece, I say: Challenge accepted!

P.S. It's glorious to witness you living out your suggestions in real-time, leading by example. 🙏
