Chaos is a fascinating topic to broach. The primitive human psyche says order is good and chaos is evil, the known is good and the unknown is evil, the controllable is good and the uncontrollable is evil.

I tend to not agree, based on the evidence of human civilization and the Gospels.

Historically, everything good in my life, including the people I know (who aren't closely related to me), is the result of me or someone previous to me encountering chaos and benefiting from it. Without the embrace of chaos/unknown/uncontrollable, humans would still be living in brutal conditions clinging to Dunbar-number tribalism. What humans call the chaos of "natural disasters -- earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, unimaginably powerful storms, floods, lightning strikes to clear old topography with flash fires -- produced the things that humans say they love: beaches and shorelines, hills and mountains, lakes and rivers, islands like Hawaii and Iceland, etc. So much good human progress, including in human ethics, can be traced to chaos. Meanwhile, Nazi concentration camps were very orderly.

As for the Gospels, Christ is chaos. The people who oppose Him are all law-and-order types, hyper-rationalists, and control freaks. And they don't oppose Him because He's some rival of their type. No, they oppose Him because He's so different and they can't figure Him out.

I'm thankful everyday for things beyond known, controllable order. After all, Substack couldn't have emerged without them 🤯

In your video, you tell of this mysterious person saying, "chaos is my blood," after you mentioned to him your interest in chaos theory. You said it was the only thing you remember about your introductory conversation. It definitely stands out to me, too, when someone mentions chaos, but maybe for different, nuanced reasons.

A friend of mine had an experience before we met. He was about to drive his car off a mountain ⛰️ cliff when he heard a voice tell him to stop ✋. Saved his life which turned out to be a good one.

Glad you had an intuitive VOICE help you steer clear of a troubled person.

I called a worker from the phone book to have some work done on my patio. A woman answered and I made an appointment. Before the appointed time, i suddenly felt an intuitive fear 😨. So much so that I brought a table and chair outside for us to discuss the situation so he would Not come inside my house 🏡. We talked and then he asked to use my phone or bathroom 🚽. I let him in. He then said he needed a $100 dollar 💵 deposit. I gave him a check. When he did Not return to do the job I drove to the address of his business. I was told he wasn’t there any more and that many people were tricked out of money by him. My intuitive warning was correct. I lost $100 bucks but I gained trust in intuition! 😉
