Everyone's sharing some great love songs! My hope has been restored! 🤩 So I've decided to make a playlist on YouTube just for these songs. Keep commenting and I'll add them when I have time!
'I Get to Love You' by Ruelle. I believe she wrote it for her husband as a surprise at their wedding. I also love her song 'Carry You'- not sure of her intended meaning, but I always hear it as God always being there. "You are not alone, I've been here the whole time singing you a song, I will carry you."
I also just want to thank you so much for your beautiful writings/contemplations and music and the possibility, love and freedom they evoke💕
Love Song by the Cure. Robert Smith wrote it for his wife as a wedding gift to her. They’ve known each other since high school and have been married for 36 years and counting.
I tend to gravitate towards instrumental, when notes and tones resonate in me as I hear the musician connect to universal love, to God....searching through their music to reach that connection. John Coltrane's album 'A Love Supreme'.. Pharoah Sanders 'The Creator Has a Master Plan' (" ..the creator has a master plan, peace and happiness for every man...) also his 'Love Will Find a Way', a love song to his wife. Jim Pepper's Caddo Revival.
Hmmm... I think I got one. ALSO, the best love story I've ever read is the Magdalene Manuscript. Had to throw that out there since you mentioned it ❤️ Song tho: Julie London - How Deep Is The Ocean ( I sang this at my best friends funeral celebration of life, makes me cry every time, but lyrically... just says it all) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPAwWCV4Jtc
My bf and i have many love songs for each other. “Everything I Do” by Bryan Adams, “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden, “Groovy Kind of Love” covered by Phil Collins are some of my favorites.
There’s Solomon’s Song of Songs, of course (e.g. “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— for your love is more delightful than wine”) but in a much more modern sense:
Then there’s “Beloved Wife” by Natalie Merchant — a one-of-a-kind, heart-wrenching love song from the perspective an elderly man whose wife of 50 years has died: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzDz18BRJ3M
The law changed in the late 90s pertaining to how many radio stations a company can own. Used to be only 3 at a time. The law changed to you can own as many as you want. Clear Channel pretty much bought up all the radio stations in the country. That's why starting around 2000, radio went downhill. It's all Pop now and they can controll the narrative through music. I'm grateful I grew up in the 80s and 90s with good Rock radio. The powers that be are sucking the soul out of every art form, that includes what your post is talking about, turning love into lust. When I hear a popular song(which is few and far between), I can just feel the negativity oozing from it. I don't even consider any of it music. It's so bad. I'm a Rock and Metal guy, I'm thankful there are plenty of bands still putting their soul into their jams. It's just not on the radio anymore. Good post. You are %100 correct.

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again
However far away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you
Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you
Beautiful post Alicen.

Alicen I enjoyed your song "Love in the Void" the distortions are harmony. I go to sleep in the void every night.
They had four children together. 💙
That starseed tribe video really hit me in the feels. And thank you for the songs too,I added a few to the playlist!

There’s Solomon’s Song of Songs, of course (e.g. “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— for your love is more delightful than wine”) but in a much more modern sense:
As a traditional love song, I appreciate “Your Song” by Elton John: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1gYc1F-BeA
Lauryn Hill’s “To Zion” is a profound love song written from a mother to her son: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzhRd3Cj9Hc
Then there’s “Beloved Wife” by Natalie Merchant — a one-of-a-kind, heart-wrenching love song from the perspective an elderly man whose wife of 50 years has died: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzDz18BRJ3M
Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” is actually a post break-up song but it contains lyrics like:
I remember that time you told me
You said, "Love is touching souls"
Surely you touched mine
'Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling
Still, I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
Also, here’s a snippet from “Is This Love,” by Bob Marley:
I wanna love you/And treat you right
I wanna love you/Every day and every night
We'll be together/With a roof right over our heads
We'll share the shelter/Of my single bed
We'll share the same room
For Jah provide the bread
“I Burn For You,” by Sting
Now that I have found you
In the cool of your evening smile
For the shade of your parasol
And your love flows through me
Though I drink at your pool
I burn for you
You and I are lovers
When night time folds around our bed
In peace, we sleep entwined
And your love flows through me
Though an ocean soothes my head
I burn for you
Stars will fall from dark skies
As ancient rocks are turning
Quiet fills the room
And your love flows through me
Though I lie here so still
I burn for you
“Oh My Love,” by John Lennon
Oh my love, for the first time in my life
My eyes are wide open
Oh my lover for the first time in my life
My eyes can see
I see the wind/Oh, I see the trees
Everything is clear in my heart
I see the clouds/Oh, I see the sky
Everything is clear in our world
Oh my love, for the first time in my life
My mind is wide open
Oh my lover, for the first time in my life
My mind can feel
I feel sorrow/Oh, I feel dreams
Everything is clear in my heart
I feel life/Oh, I feel love
Everything is clear in our world
“The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” by Roberta Flack
The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love
To the dark and the endless skies
And the first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth move in my hand
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command, my love
And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last 'til the end of time, my love
And it would last 'til the end of time
The first time ever I saw your face
Your face, your face, your face
I'm not certain any of these live up to the promises in Corinthians but relative to the low bar of modern music, they move me.

The first CD I ever bought ~ RIPE by BANDERAS ❤️
"Written All Over My Face" is just lovely, as is the last track. "Never too Late" 💫
It's never too late for love
Never mind what people say
You go your own way
Because It's never too late for love
Love
Love

Wonderful, much-needed contemplation! I have some thoughts about songs (and snippets from songs) but do not wish to spam yer comments section. 🙂
I'm literally INVITING you to spam my comments! 🤣 Anyway, it's not spam if it's Love!
🤣 Okay...you asked for it!
(I started a separate thread!)
