Bravo! 👏 As you well know, I share your disdain for cars and car culture.
I hope you don't mind me adding a personal touch from my working-class, blue-collar, material world, NYC upbringing. All the guys I knew were programmed very early with Matchbox, Hot Wheels, the Batmobile, and more to worship internal combustion engine vehicles. As we got closer to our late teens, so much time and energy was squandered in dreams and conversations about owning, driving, fixing, racing, and showing off a car.
Such an intense dose of propaganda and conditioning, of course, is designed to make a massive profit while making it unlikely that anyone would reach the conclusions you articulate in this excellent post. So here we are, living in a culture that has turned a scourge upon the earth, an abomination to God, and a man-made horror beyond our comprehension into a lucrative, popular "sport."
I could go on, but...
tl;dr: I pray many others will follow your lead in identifying and addressing their shadow to eliminate.
